Our Story
A sense of place. A feeling of home.
There are places we remember through scent. The coast after a long summer's day. A garden just after rain. The warmth of the bush as evening settles. Cape Island began in Cape Town in 2015, inspired by the way fragrance can hold a memory and bring it beautifully into the present.
Our home and body collections draw on the landscapes, character and contrasts of Africa. Each fragrance is an interpretation of somewhere, or something, that moves us. Familiar in feeling, distinctive in expression.
Created to be lived with and given with love, our collections bring beauty to the everyday. A welcoming room. A moment to yourself. A thoughtful gift that says what words cannot.
Each scent is designed to evoke the essence of the continent, capturing the spirit of Africa's nature, landscapes, and traditions.
What We Stand For
Beauty with purpose

Considered by Design
From small-batch production to vessels made to be kept and refill options for favourite fragrances, we make considered choices about what we create and how it is enjoyed.

Made in South Africa
Our collections take shape here at home, bringing together fine fragrance, distinctive design and the care of local hands. South African creativity is at the heart of every collection.

Women at the Heart
Cape Island is proudly female-owned. Creating meaningful employment for women is part of our story and our future, with opportunities to develop skills, grow in confidence and build a livelihood.

Our Craft
The care behind every detail
Fine fragrance oils sourced from specialist European perfumers meet South African craftsmanship in our Cape Town workshop. Here, our team pours candles, fills diffusers and prepares each collection in small batches.
Care is present at every stage: in the making, the finishing and the presentation. The result is a collection that feels as considered in your hands as it does in your home.
From private homes to boutique hotels, wine estates and safari lodges, Cape Island brings a distinctive sense of welcome to beautiful spaces across Southern Africa.
